RECHARGE YOUR ENERGY WITH GROUNDING

As I take off my shoes and step on the grass in my sister-in-law’s back yard, I feel immediate relief. It’s a subtle relief, like taking a zip of water on a hot day or washing your hands when they’re dirty. It’s not life-changing, but you can tell the difference, the body immediately communicates “yes!” And I always pay attention when I get such a clear message from my body.

Grounding or earthing is putting your bare feet on the ground. Every time I hear about things like this, I think “people come up with the weirdest things,” but as I research more and more, I become “one of those weird people,” as my husband says.

I’ll give you an example: when I started to hear and read about cycle syncing (when you do certain activities depending on the phase of your menstrual cycle, to optimize productivity, health and well-being) and/or moon syncing (same thing, but with the cycles of the moon) I started to think “this is too woo-woo even for me.”

Then, I learned that, before electricity, women used to menstruate with the new moon and ovulate with the full moon. This totally blew my mind and it made me remember (because I think we never really forget) that we all have a powerful connection to earth and it’s surroundings.

Being in contact every day with the earth (grass, dirt rock—anything natural) can have a real impact in our well-being. Research has shown that grounding helps reduce inflammation and chronic pain. It also helps people sleep better.

The explanation is that when we ground we absorb electrons through our feet and this supports the cellular function of the body. Our bodies are made of cells, every organ and tissue is made up of different types of cells—and grounding supports their function.

This makes sense! We come from the earth; we’re made of the same thing as the earth, like oxygen, carbon, and calcium. And when we connect to earth, it’s life giving, it’s energizing, it’s recharging.
